Nationally outdoor recreation is a 1.2 trillion-dollar industry in the US. Moreover, outdoor recreation on federal lands and waters helps generate 128 billion in annual economic activity. Eighty percent of the land base in Park County, Wyoming is managed by Yellowstone National Park, the Shoshone National Forest, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of the Reclamation. Powell, Wyoming is the perfect location for Outdoor Rec businesses and manufactures who want to be close to recreation without the high expenses of many other gateway communities.

Powell Economic Partnership is a Leader in Developing Outdoor Rec Economy
PEP has a history advocating for Outdoor Recreation to build Wyoming’s and Park County’s economy. This includes proactively working with local governments and federal land managers to create public lands awareness events. Through PEP led clean-up initiatives, we engaged 100 volunteers to removed 5,660 pounds of trash from federal lands and paint over graffiti from a public boating access. Moreover, PEP created the Park County Outdoor Rec Collaborative in Partnership with Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Office. The Powell Economic Partnership is spearheading development of the Powell Pathway project part of the Great American Rail Trail. Most recently, PEP was announced as a recipient for the EPA Recreation for Rural Economies technical assistant program. This program vitalized downtowns with outdoor recreation assets.
