Workforce Development

Powell’s Workforce Development

Powell’s future is powered by the people who work hard to make our community stronger. The Powell Economic Partnership (PEP) is dedicated to building a more resilient local economy by investing directly in these people. Our region faces unique workforce challenges, such as rural isolation and limited access to jobs. By empowering people with the skills and resources they need, we are laying the groundwork for long-term growth and community well-being.

Career Ignite

Career Ignite is a workshop for Powell residents looking to sharpen their skills. Our series offers training in key professional development areas, including but not limited to grant writing, resume building, networking, and communication. These sessions are meant to help recent graduates, job seekers, and those looking to advance in their current careers. They are open to all skill levels and interested parties.

While we offer these sessions for a small fee, donations help us continue this project while still compensating our presenters’ time. With your help, we can expand this series to serve more people, more often.

Outreach

To continue our work, PEP frequently needs new workers on a yearly basis. Many of these hires are usually out of state. Not only do these new team members contribute to our ongoing projects, but they also often become long-term residents who fall in love with the community. With your support, this can help us reach more people and create stronger hiring opportunities. With this money, we can join virtual job fairs and create social media advertising, so we can reach potential workers where they are. Our goal is not to just fill open roles, but to build a team that reflects the direction Powell is heading.

Domestic Service Members

The most important part of PEP is our staff, and at the heart of every project is our Domestic Service Members. These volunteers relocate to Powell, often from across the country, to serve in roles that improve areas such as agriculture, outdoor recreation, public lands, education, and more. They bring with them a fresh, outsider perspective of Wyoming to create energy and innovation in our city.

Plenty of businesses and individuals in the region have collaborated with our members, all with positive experiences. Our projects could not come to fruition without them. Our service members have work with places such as the Bureau of Land Management, Park County Open Lands, and PEP. In the future, they are set to work at Northwest College and Park County School District. While we have many projects, our major works include the Rails with Trails Project, a Food Hub, and overall economic development.

They make real sacrifices, giving their all to our community. In return, they receive only a small living stipend. With your support, PEP can improve the living conditions of our service members. Donations would go to their housing, transportation, and food costs, as well as cover training and group activities.

Donate

When you give to PEP, you’re not just donating. You’re investing in people, potential, and the future of Powell. Helping to grow our existing workforce can create a stronger future, where our families will want to stay in Wyoming and have access to better, higher paying jobs. If you invest in this now, your contribution will make all the difference.

80% of all money raised goes to workforce development, while 20% is reserved for administrative costs.
