Business Friendly Government
For over a decade, Wyoming has held the title for the most business-friendly states in the United States. Wyoming has no corporate or individual income tax, no franchise tax, no inventory tax, and no taxes on manufacturing equipment, electricity, or gas. Sales tax is low at only 4%, making this location perfect for businesses. These policies mean lower overhead and higher margins for companies across the board.
Local support is strong, too. The Wyoming Business Council maintains an office in Park County, offering infrastructure-development grants, small-capital startup grants, downtown redevelopment programs, and collaboration with local financing institutions.
Additionally, the Powell Economic Partnership is here to help. We specialize in services regarding aerospace, agribusiness, outdoor recreation, and travel and tourism. We have information on sites and infrastructure, workforce demographics, and how your specific business can thrive in our economy. If you’re interested in learning more, contact us.
Sites & Facilities
The City of Powell has plenty of properties available for you, whether you are looking for the appropriate building for your company or shovel-ready land. These lots include full utility coverage, such as electricity, water, sewage, natural gas, and even fiber-optic broadband.
Powell also has major transportation access. Highway 14A runs at the front of Powell, connecting our city to major areas of traffic, including Billings, Boseman, and Casper. BNSF Railway, the largest freight railroad in the United States, connects Powell to major cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.
Our most important feature, however, are the airports. Our region has two airports – the Yellowstone Regional Airport and the Powell Municipal Airport. The Yellowstone Regional Airport is just 20 miles away in Cody. The airport offers passenger flights and air cargo services using FedEx and UPS. The Powell Municipal Airport is just off Highway 295 and offers general and corporate aviation. To learn more about our municipal airport and what it offers below.
